Sometime back in mid 2008, Banpresto released a series of Gundam Desktop Display Heads. The words “For Use As Prize In Japan Only” are printed on the back of the box. Not entirely sure what this means exactly, but it seems to indicate that it’s meant for internal Japan circulation only.

Each head standing approximately 8cm tall (without V Fin) I’d make a guess that they are about 1/35scale, but in actual fact, after comparing the relative size of the heads, I’d say they were Non-Scale (Nu gundam’s Head should be much larger than the V gundam, but they are approximately the same size)

The surface detailing are not really sharp and on first look they are not really that impressive. However, the overall proportions and shape are accurate for most of the heads so they make an excellent “base” for subsequent modifications / alterations. The heads are molded in plastic, so you can cut, saw, sand, superglue, scribe and do whatever detailing you wish! Since, they are not meant for sale, there is no suggested yen price stated on the box. My guess is that the price for these items may vary depending on where you are. My decision to buy them was based on the potential these heads has, rather than on its actual value. Besides, the next closet other alternative one would have would be the series released by G-System…

Banpresto released the series of heads in fours different sets, each set containing four heads. The release of the heads were timed in intervals of about 2months or so, with the final set scheduled to be out in January 09. (Keeping my fingers crossed that set 4 reaches Malaysia)

Set 1 contains : RX78, Wing Zero, Impulse and X

Set 2 contains : Zeta, God, NT-1 and V

Set 3 contains : Nu, GP03, Double Z and Turn A
