This connected all the part together, so that when the knee is bent, it’s linked like a chain, and the parts extend like so.

I was having so much fun with the knee block that I missed out some photos at the critical parts. Here are some test fit pics, and also a close up shot of the knee block.

With the knee block rising up, there will be a huge hole on the front of the lower leg. Some pistons were added in. I tried a few configurations to see what size pistons would like better. I ended up with the smaller set. The inner wall of the cavity was detailed up using the ‘scribed’ pla-plates like done earlier.

Here’s how everything fits together…

The acid test would be… can I still do the kneeling position with the knee block locked in?
The answer….

The final part which need detailing up was funnily the arm pit. With the final pose I chose, the armpits will be showing. So some piston details were added in. Great care was taken so that these additional detailing would not impede on the range of movements of the ball joints on the shoulder. This was done by scratchbuilding a ring using a solid block of milliput. Some piston looking parts were added onto the sides of the rings.

When fitted on, the pistons will go into the cavity of the upper torso, and will not impede on the movement of the ball joint.

Some final test fits before painting

Some shots of the painting process. This was the first time I changed the colour scheme. I have a poor design sense, so this was quite challenging for me. Finally I still ended up with a pretty safe choice of replacing the light blue with a custom mix of purple, with some variations on highlights here and there.

Its also the first time I’m using dry transfers ( the ones from the MG kit )

I screwed up the yellow stripe on the chest, and also the yellow on the V-fin due to a series of stupid mistakes, and also my own impatience. Lesson learnt... Don't be too impatient when painting the kit! However, the dead line for the competition was nearing, so I couldn’t fix it. One of the great regrets on this kit. Anyway, here’s how it looks like moments from completion!
