MG 1/100 S Gundam
Posted by Erix93 :October 10 2007, 02:13am

This is the work in progress log for a 1/100 scale MG S-Gundam which I did as a commission piece. Since the 2007 BAKUC competitions were round the corner, there was no way I would be able to work on this AND another model to submit for the competition, so I got permission from my customer to allow me to use this commision piece as the entry to BAKUC.

Due to time constraints, the mods i did this time round was much simpler compared to my previus works. I first started out with the face piece, where i shortened and sharpened the chin area.

Next I did a little touching up on the details on the head. The original part was premolded and was not very pronounced. I sanded away the original, cut away a notch, and replaced the detailing with a 'minus mold'.

The result is as shown below.

Next I did some scribing of custom panel lines on the chest piece. Most mods on the S or the ExS we normally see have very standard detailing done on the chest piece. I decided to go against the norm and have some asymmetrical design. This worked to my advantage because i was much easier and i did not need to worry about the balancing and positioning of the details.

Next I started work on the shoulder. I seperated the shoulder to 2 sections. The same was done to the inner frame, taking care of the allignment of the parts.

Next I added in some basic details on the inner frame, focusing on the areas which will be exposed. The details shown below was done using some combinations of kotobukiya parts.
