Non Scale Gundam Head Display |
V-GUNDAM |
Managed to squeeze some time over the
weekend to work on the head some more. I spent some time
looking through my old Newtype 100% mook for reference
and got this nice illustration of the V gundam by Katoki
Hajime. There were some nice detailing on the sides of
the head which can be added onto the kit. |

|
I went about this by drilling some holes
at the area for the detailing, and then slowly cutting
the slot into shape. I then inserted a small rod made out
of left over epoxy putty into the slot. |

Looks a bit weird with the rounded edges,
so I made them square instead. |

Next up, I reconstructed the center piece
of the vents on the side of the head with pla-plate. |
|
|
I also did some minor detailing on the
back of the head in a similar fashion as my MG Zaku. It’s
a bit off centered right now because it’s not glued in
place yet. |

|
I drilled through the main camera area
to light it up from behind also, to compliment the bottom
lighting. I think it looks a bit better now. Also did a
full scale testing with the LEDs. |

Light is bleeding out from everywhere.
I’m pretty much done on the outer surface, and will not
be doing much more detailing. Probably some minor EPPT
detailing here and there and that’s it. Will be spending
the next few days containing the light and making sure
it doesn’t bleed out. |
