Banpresto Non Scale Gundam Head Display

V-GUNDAM
Been really busy with work lately, so I hardly had time to work on this. Managed to squeeze some time to work on the final details (hopefully) before I start wiring up the LEDs and securing them permanently inside the head.
Cut some slots near the air vent area to break the monotony following some feedback from a fellow modeler in the forums.

Started working on blocking out the lights as well. Similar concept as Erix’s Nu gundam head, I placed some kotobukiya rectangular moulds as some detailing and to cover up the holes at the sides of the eyes.

I cut up some spare parts I had to detail up the bottom portion as well. Actually once the face plate has been assembled, you can’t really see this inside, but I did it anyway…

I also started working on the rear camera as well. Started by layering some pla-plate strips on the inside

I fashioned the rear camera in a similar pattern as the front main camera. It sits inside like so, and the clear layer will be slotted into the make shift groove created between the 2 strips of pla-plate I placed inside.

More details added to the camera unit
There’s a huge hole which needs to be covered up. I dug up more parts, and starting piecing them together…
I used some left over sprue to make this
Surfacer check!
Finally, I got around to finishing what I started for the detailing under the helmet at the eye area. I tried for a long time coming up with something different from Keita’s design, but really couldn’t think of anything really different. I ended up with something very very similar.

And the final bit of detailing, where I cut away a small slot on the helmet and placed a small epoxy rod inside. Coincidentally, Keita also did a similar detailing on his RX78 head, but I wasn’t following his design here, but more towards emulating how Katoki illustrated the V Gundam in his posters.

That’s it for the head! Next up… the neck!
